The National Association of State Technology Directors (NASTD) is bringing on new leadership. Late last week, the organization announced that John Hoffman, CTO for the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR), will take over as NASTD president. At DIR, Hoffman is tasked with providing comprehensive strategic planning for the agency. He also has 25 years of experience in the wired and wireless communications fields and has held positions in network operations and integration, field operations, and program management.
Brad Steele, director of unified communications for Massachusetts, will serve as his vice president. Steele joined state government in 2009 and has helped Massachusetts provide secure and quality digital information, services, and tools to constituents and service providers. NASTD notes that in addition to his work with the state government, Steele also enjoys working with his hometown team, the New England Patriots, and supervises in-game electronic signage for the team.
Additionally, the group is gaining a new secretary and treasurer with Victoria Wallis, strategic project manager for the Iowa Communications Network, stepping in to fill the role. NASTD also announced its new executive board. Pat Snow, acting CIO for the state of South Dakota, is NASTD’s previous president and remains on the board. Andy Ogan, network operations manager for South Dakota, will serve as the Western Region president. Dawnna Pease, director of enterprise hosting for Maine, was tapped to be the Eastern Region president. Robert Simms, director networks and telecommunication for Missouri, is taking over as the Midwestern Region president. Ben Venable, director of network engineering for Alabama, is the Southern Region president.
