The Florida Department of Education is collecting data on professional credentialing programs to show how well they align with the demands of employers so the department can make informed decisions regarding policy and resource allocation.
The department is utilizing the My Journey platform, provided by PAIRIN, a Denver software company. It draws data from various sources to offer a more precise accounting of workforce trends.
Through the data collected, policymakers and other selected stakeholders across the state will evaluate workforce programs’ alignment with industry needs, their overall performance, and the programs’ ability to accelerate an individual’s time to economic self-sufficiency.
This data will allow for more informed and data-driven state-wide funding and policymaking, while also laying the framework to seamlessly integrate state-wide credential data with multi-generational career and education pathway tools.
Additionally, the education department, in conjunction with the Governor’s Office, the Department of Economic Opportunity, CareerSource Florida, and the Department of Children and Family Services, plan to utilize the My Journey platform to provide access to skills, credentials, and labor market information.
City officials will also be able to identify gaps and undersupply of in-demand credentials at the local level, track the production of quality credentials, and align that production with real-time, localized quantitative labor market information. Ultimately, allowing all Floridians to navigate education, training, and career planning better.
