Starting Feb. 17, Colorado residents will be able to access a new digital portal from the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) that allows them to manage vehicle services and credentials online.
The new myDMV customer portal will offer a “streamlined experience featuring user-friendly online e-services for Coloradans,” according to the Colorado DMV website.
According to the Colorado DMV, residents who create a myDMV account can enroll in electronic communications to receive updates on vehicle registration renewals and other important deadlines. The portal also offers categorized online services and optional dashboard features that allow users to save progress and manage multiple services in one place.
The portal will provide “better security and functionality for staff and county staff, [and] it will be a win for our customers [by] giving them a better customer experience with our online services,” Colorado DMV Senior Director Electra Bustle said in a statement.
To register for a myDMV account, residents must provide a Colorado-issued ID, their Social Security number or taxpayer identification number, date of birth, and a valid email address.
The portal enables all registered vehicle owners to link their vehicles to individual customer accounts. Bulk fleet owners can use the system to manage fleet transactions, registrations, proof-of-insurance records, and add or remove vehicles from their fleet accounts, according to the DMV’s website.
Notably, the DMV said that Colorado residents can handle many DMV services online without a myDMV account, from renewing licenses, IDs, and registrations to replacing titles or tabs, paying fees, scheduling appointments, and reporting a vehicle sale.
However, more sensitive requests – including address changes, access to driving records, and replacement license plates – require a secure login through the myDMV system.
