The University of Washington (UW) announced Andreas Bohman as its new chief information officer (CIO) and vice president of UW Information Technology (UW-IT).
Bohman, who will start at UW on March 16, is replacing Aaron Powell, who retires on April 1.
“Andreas arrives at an important moment for the UW, as we embark on the most formative stages of the UW Finance Transformation, reflect on our campuses’ IT needs, as well as the IT strategy and direction two years after the start of the pandemic,” UW President Ana Mari Cauce said. “Fortunately, Andreas is undaunted and brings a wealth of experience.”
UW said that Bohman brings more than 20 years of technology, security and operations leadership experience. He most recently served as vice president of operations at Central Washington University, where he has taught classes on cybersecurity in the school’s Department of Information Technology Administrative Management. Over the course of his career he has also held chief information security officer and CIO positions.
As CIO and vice president for UW-IT, Bohman will lead the development of the strategic technology direction for the university, foster collaboration and community among UW’s IT organizations, and oversee the people and services of the central IT organization. UW added that Bohman’s mission will be to “position technology in support of teaching, learning and research across the UW’s three campuses, and serve as a leader to develop diverse, impactful teams with a commitment to inclusive and accessible technology services.”
