The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) announced that it is moving to a new website platform following a cybersecurity incident first announced in January.
In a Jan. 25 statement, the NGCB said it was made aware that its public-facing website had been compromised. The statement said that NGCB technology personnel took “immediate steps to protect the website by taking it offline.” While it was investigating the situation, NGCB said it was preparing to publish a temporary website.
In a new statement, the NGCB said that following guidance from the Nevada Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), it has made the decision to shut down the existing website and transition to a new website platform.
The NGCB also announced that an investigation conducted with cooperation between the NGCB Information Technology team, the OCIO, fellow law enforcement agencies, and external legal and forensic experts found no evidence that personal information was accessed or acquired by any unauthorized persons.
