The Ceder Rapids Community School District (CRCSD) was hit by a cybersecurity incident that has caused the school district to close for the remainder of the week.
The attack, which has not been identified yet, has affected daily programs and systems that are used in a regular basis.
“As soon as we learned of this incident, we engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to help review this matter and take steps to ensure something similar does not happen again,” the district said in a July 7 press release. “We are taking this action to be able to restore all systems as quickly and securely as possible.”
The district suspended many of the summer activities, including district field trips. The closure on the other hand would not affect HS baseball and softball games.
The district is expected to resume all activities starting on July 11 as they work with cybersecurity experts to solve the cause of the cybersecurity incident.
