The City of Round Rock, Texas – a city north of Austin – has appointed Ramsey Saad to serve as its chief information officer (CIO), leading the city’s Information Technology Department.

Saad is replacing Heath Douglas, who recently retired from the CIO position after 22 years of service.

Saad has over 14 years of experience serving the city of Round Rock. He started in the Geographic Information Systems group and later served in other IT roles, such as system administrator and application and web developer. In 2015, he was promoted to assistant director of information technology.

“Ramsey has led several organization-wide initiatives over the years to harness new technology so we can provide exceptional service to the citizens of Round Rock,” said City Manager Laurie Hadley. “His knowledge of the City, dedication and loyalty to Round Rock will serve this community well for years to come.”

Saad began his new role in June and has named Megan Tschoerner as his successor for the role of assistant director of information technology.

“Information Technology affects all aspects of our local government, and I’m excited to work in a new capacity to continue enhancing and modernizing the operations of our organization,” Saad said. “From public safety to the library, we’re working on several exciting projects to improve the experience for our citizens, business community, and visitors.”
