Microsoft today announced that it plans to expand its rural broadband initiative, dubbed the Airband initiative, to reach an additional 1 million rural Americans.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Facebook, and Microsoft hosted a joint briefing on Friday, Aug. 24, for the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) and the National Association of State Election Directors (NASED) regarding “actions being taken to combat malicious interference operations.”

Microsoft announced the launch of its Smart Cities for All Toolkit, a guide that helps city leaders combine technology and smart city initiatives to benefit their citizens, with a particular focus on residents with a disability.

Girls Who Code and Facebook teamed up to host a Governors’ Summit to discuss the gender gap in the technology sector with state leaders and how encouraging girls to go into STEM fields would increase the amount of technology talent in the U.S.
