The Department of Education and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) need to do better in coordinating efforts to aid K-12 schools in cybersecurity, according to a recent report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO).

The National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) has released its 2022 State Election Director Report. The report, which was prepared by NSGIC’s Geo-Enabled Elections project, documents progress in the use of geographic information system (GIS) technology in elections across the United States since the project was begun in 2017.

The City of Pittsburgh, along with Allegheny County, Pa., has launched the Pittsburgh Digital Equity Coalition (PDEC), which is tasked with producing and implementing a five-year plan to close the digital divide in the region by the end of 2027.

Five months after launching the K-12 Digital Mapping Program, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced over 1,000 schools and 85 school divisions have committed to using Collaborative Response Graphics (CRGs) technology as digital mapping tools to better aid first responders in the event of an emergency.
