Officials at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) confirmed on the morning of Feb. 19 that it was struck by a cyberattack that disrupted its IT network and electronic medical records (EMR) system.

Nevada officials announced that the state has been targeted in “a sophisticated ransomware-based cybersecurity attack,” with federal partners working closely with state officials as they respond to the incident.

The city of St. Paul, Minn., is continuing to respond to a significant cyberattack impacting access to some internal systems and online services, with the help of the Minnesota National Guard.

The Montana National Guard confirmed last week that its team responded to an April cyberattack against the Montana State University (MSU) in Bozeman.

Whitworth University, a private university in Country Homes, Wash., announced it was hit by a cyberattack, but expects to have 95 percent of its system restored by August 31.

Howard University has been hit by a ransomware cyberattack, the university confirmed after the information technology team detected unusual activity on the university’s network on Sept. 3.
