A new collaboration between the North Carolina Department of IT’s (NCDIT) Division of Broadband and Digital Equity and NC 211 is helping more residents connect to the internet and access digital inclusion services, advancing Gov. Roy Cooper’s ongoing efforts to close the digital divide across the state.

The City of Scranton, Penn., is partnering with Verizon to deliver universal internet access across the city. Through the partnership, Verizon will invest tens of millions of dollars over the next three years to develop a ubiquitous network of fiber-based internet access to homes, providing the opportunity for all Scranton residents to subscribe to high-speed internet service.

Twenty-three more Tribal entities have been awarded more than $600 million in the latest round of the Biden-Harris Administration’s “Internet for All” initiative, according to a press release published on Oct. 11.
